Thanksgiving weekend (November 28, to be exact) we saw our grandson Brian and his lovely bride Mattie tie the knot in a beautiful outdoor wedding. The weather cooperated with a mild sunny day and the sunset behind them during the ceremony added just the right touch.

On December 12 we attended Brian's graduation with a BS degree in Aviation/Professional Pilot Option from the University of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant then helped them move their belongings from their apartment there back to Fort Smith.
In addition to these "big days", we've spent a lot of time shopping for Christmas, visiting family, and in doctors' offices getting all kinds of tests and learning to cope with the diagnosis of diabetes for BOTH of us--after seeing Roger's numbers, we're not sure why HE had that diagnosis, though. I've forced myself to start exercising almost daily and we've done a lot more walking than we've ever done. The most difficult thing will be giving up (or greatly reducing) many of our favorite foods--especially Roger's fries and pizza and my cheese and bread! But with some work we should both be able to manage the disease with diet and exercise--I'm just learning to cook healtier and we have to be more selective when we go out to eat.
Roger's mom's still doing as well as can be expected, with the PSP progressing but not rapidly. We feel fortunate that she's still able to stay in the Assisted Living Facility that has been such a Godsend for her. Since there are limits to the care an ALF can provide, we pray daily that she'll continue to be able to do the things that are required for her to stay there.
We've been having a great time with the great-grandbaby. Ryder is now eight months old and is a real sweetie! They grow and change SO fast at that age that it's going to be hard to leave for the winter, knowing that he'll be so different when we get back. This is him as the Pokey Little Puppy on Halloween:
We'll be spending Christmas Eve with the family at Roger's brother & sister-in-law's house then Tracey will have everyone at her house for Christmas dinner. I'm trying to revise some of my recipes to be healthier and hope no one notices the difference.
December 29 we'll be heading South--first to my brother and sister-in-law's house (back yard, actually) in New Iberia, Louisiana, for a couple of weeks then on to Rockport, Texas. Looking forward to seeing my brother and our friends and getting close to the beach--and hoping for nice weather when we get there!
Once we're settled in and have something new to report, I'll be back. In the meantime, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR FRIENDS!!!
