Gulf Coast to Arklahoma

It's been an eventful week--left the beach at Port Aransas on Sunday, spent 2 nights at Rainbow's End (the Escapees Park in Livingston, TX), one night at Wright Patman Lake near Texarkana, and in the middle of all this, we became Great-grandparents!

Brian and Mattie's precious little baby boy, Jaxson Ryder, was born Monday, April 13, weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. Isn't he just ADORABLE??!!?!

Although the highlight of the past week was getting home to see the great-grandbaby (gee, that makes us sound really OLD!), we thoroughly enjoyed our stop in Livingston. We had a good visit with our friends, Marcia & Joe, and met some more of the Escapees Class of 2007, Jean & Gregg, Cathy & Leland, Kathy & Dave, and Marty. In fact, we've been unofficially "adopted" by the Fulltimer's Class of 2007. Since there was no Class of 2004 when we started fulltime RVing, we're honored that they've accepted us--we were beginning to feel like orphans.

Soon after we arrived at the park Cathy was showing Marcia and me some terrific little scrapbook albums she'd been making. Since Marcia has a 1-year-old granddaughter and I knew I'd soon have a great-grandson, we just HAD to make a WalMart run for supplies to make one while we had Cathy to guide us! Neither of us completed one before I had to leave, but we got close enough to be able to finish it later--In fact, I still have to get some pictures of the baby printed and pick up a bit more of "finishing" material before I can complete mine.

Monday night Kathy and Dave invited us all to their place for burgers and it was wonderful--good food, good company, and good weather. After we ate, we all went to the activities building for games--I'd clobbered them the night before at Mexican Train, but didn't have the same luck the second time...maybe it really WAS "beginner's luck"!
We weren't sure where we'd spend Tuesday night, but Kathy and Dave said they'd be stopping at a CoE campground on a lake just south of Texarkana so that seemed like a good half-way place for us, too. Problem was, we didn't have a clue where the campground was and none of our maps had very clear directions--even the signage after we got there didn't tell us exactly where we should go. But after making a turn onto one wrong road, we finally found "a" campground--no idea if it was the one Dave had told us about or not, but just as we pulled up to the gate Kathy was getting back into their truck (after finding a site and coming back to pay) and she saw us coming in! Talk about luck! Anyway, we had another nice visit with them that evening and left early Wednesday.

Got home, got to see the baby and now I gotta go because the baby's on his way to Lisa's for a visit and that's just down the driveway from here. But I needed to get this posted before another day gets by.
