S. Mineral Creek and Ouray, CO

We spent a couple of days just sitting around the camp visiting with old and new friends. Walt and Scotty came by one evening for us to see Scotty pulling his cart. Joe Penguin and Marty Moose hitched a short ride:

Saturday I actually got on the back of Roger’s KLR and we rode to Eureka, an old ghost town about 8 miles from where we were parked. This a popular area with campers who have dirt bikes and 4-wheelers because they don’t have to go through town to get to the mountain trails. Sorry we forgot the camera, but will try to do better next time.

Sunday was moving day again so we stopped by one of the local campgrounds to dump the holding tanks and get fresh water. We and our friends then moved to a spot on South Mineral Creek with a view of some different mountains.

Monday we drove to Montrose to replenish supplies at the WalMart Supercenter and a stop at the Russell Stover outlet store for about a year’s worth of chocolates. On our way there we stopped to visit some friends, Scott and Linda, who are staying in an RV park in Ouray. Here's a pic of Ouray from the lookout just as you come into town:

The drive between Silverton and Ouray is probably one of the most spectacular drives anywhere! It’s called the Million Dollar Highway for the million dollars a mile it cost to build, but it’s also a series of million-dollar views. Photos can’t do it justice and there’s no place to stop for the most impressive parts, but here are some examples of the scenery:
Roger’s out on a motorcycle ride today with some buddies that arrived yesterday and we forgot to download the photos from his camera before he left and I really want to get this posted, so later I’ll add some more shots of the area.
