Chama Rainbow and on to Eagle Nest

We (Roger and I along with Melba and Bobby) left Silverton Sunday and arrived at the Twin Rivers RV Park in Chama, NM, in time to watch the last half of the Nascar race. Then we went to dinner with Bobby & Melba and some other friends, Joe and Barbara, who were staying at another RV park in Chama.

It started raining just as we were leaving the restaurant and after we got back to the RV park, we were treated to one of the most beautiful rainbows we had ever seen! It was a full rainbow plus part of a second one and was so big we couldn’t get it all in one frame.

Monday we proceeded to Eagle Nest, NM, and the Weathers RV Park which will be our home for at least a month. Even though the sites are a bit narrow, the view of Eagle Nest Lake and the surrounding mountains out our front windshield is spectacular!

Tuesday was a day of rest and relaxation (Roger and I are both still fighting colds), and Wednesday we drove to Red River and Questa to get some good maps of the area so we can explore more of the backroads in the days to come. Since we’ll be here awhile we’ll probably mix days of doing nothing with days of exploring. Melba and Bobby left this morning (Thursday) to go to the airport in Albequerque for a flight to Dallas for their grandson’s college graduation, so we may wait until they return on Sunday before we do a lot of sightseeing.

When we do get out to take more photos, I'll be back to share on the blog, but it will probably be a few days from now.
